Bromsgrove Sporting progressed to the F. A. Vase semi final when they beat Toolsation Western League Premier Division side, Buckland Athletic 2-0 at the Victoria Ground.
It could have been oh so different as Buckland had the best of the first half, and had the ball in the net when centre-back Simon Laughton headed home only to be thwarted by the assistants flag for offside. To make matters worse for the Devonians, Lloyd Gardner had his spot kick saved by keeper Nathan Vaughan after Aaron Roberts had brought down Richard Groves.
Sporting made a change at the start of the second half, bringing on Chris Lloyd for Ahmed Ali, and on the hour mark it was Bromsgrove's turn to gain a penalty after Hewitt was adjudged to have been fouled by Buckland keeper Grant Fisher, Liam Spink took the responsibility and duly found the bottom corner of the net in the 61st. minute. Sporting made the game safe in the 75th. minute when Jason Cowley found Lloyd and his shot across the keeper found the far corner of the net.
With the crowd counting down the minutes the referee blew the whistle after four minutes of added time, to send the Rouslers faithful into raptures.
The draw tomorrow, everyone awaits with baited breath with possible opponents being Cleethorpes Town, South Shields and fellow Midland Football League side, Coleshill Town.Back
