Bromsgrove Sporting started their season with a 2-2 draw with fellow Midland Football League Premier Division side Rocester at the Victoria Ground. With several new faces in the starting line up, and a few unavailable, the side had a bit of a new look for the start of the 2017/18 season. Sporting started the game brightly, but could have fell behind when Rocester forward Oliver Roome pushed his shot past the post with only keeper Reece Francis to beat. The Romans were made to pay for this when Reece Hewitt's lobbed pass found the on-rushing Wade Malley in the 17th minute, who finished with a left foot volley. Unfortunately for the Rouslers the lead only lasted 4 minutes when Roome got on the end of a mistake in the box to make it 1-1. The second half saw Bromsgrove hold sway, but found it difficult to penetrate the visiting defence until the 79th. minute when Robbie Bunn picked up the ball wide on the right, and cut inside and drove the ball past Adam Binks in the Rocester goal. Again the lead was short lived, when Scott Wesson levelled, lashing the loose ball home after good work by substitutes, Ryan Griffin and Sebastian Szondi. Both teams fight for another day with the replay being at Hillsfield on Tuesday evening. Back
