Bromsgrove Reserves welcomed back three players released by the first team and travelled to Walsall with increased expectations.

'Danny is back!'   Within the first minute Danny Lismore produced a typical burst of speed to cruise past their full back to reach their goal line. He crossed the ball for Alex Kelly to smash the ball into the net for our first goal.   (1-0)

Bromsgrove were playing very good football, passing accurately and keeping the ball. Walsall were pushed back and could not penetrate a sound sporting defensive line.

On 37min a free kick taken by  Peter Jenvey, following an infringement by Walsall, found Chris Neilson in the opponents penalty area where he calmly put a side foot volley through a crowd of players into goal.  (2-0)

Bromsgrove entered a generous period and misplaced their passes and allowed Walsall to come back into the game. They had several half chances but could not score. In the 40th minute they did score. A sloppy pass gave Walsall an opportunity which they took slipping the ball beyond our out rushing keeper. (2-1)

Bromsgrove regained their composure and pushed forward. A clever series of interpassing saw sporting create good chances which were deflected or saved by their keeper. Another surge saw Craig Vale bursting into the penalty area where he was unceremoniously pulled down by two defenders.  Luke Whitehouse, returning after injury carefully placed the spot kick wide of the keeper. (3-1)

Just before half time, an excellent piece of combination play down the left involving Simon Philllips, Alex Kelly and Peter Jenvey gave Peter the chance to shoot. He curled a shot just inside the top corner but a wonderful save pushed the ball onto the cross bar and out for a corner.

Bromsgrove continued to prosper after half time and Luke Whitehouse gave way to Jamie O'Meara on the hour. Jamie's first touch almost led to a goal when he was through but the ball ran too far and the keeper rescued Walsall.

Peter Jenvey came off on 65mins to allowed another talented youngster, Robbie Cox to continue his impressive reserve team form.

On 80 mins excellent work from Dan Tierney and Jamie O'Meara on the right allowed Alex Kelly to score his second with a left foot shot on the turn from 18yds. (4-1)

Harry Blood replaced Simon Phillips immediately afterwards and contributed further to a very good Bromsgrove display.

With Spencer Kenward, Jormer Seaborne, Matt Wilkes and the impressive Bradley Williamson also available for our next match at home the reserves are confident.

The next game is at home against the high flying Continental Star, KO 2.00pm.
